Redi Rock Retaining Wall Installation

Engineered Structural Support in Northeast Ohio

This project involved stabilizing a residential property experiencing significant erosion and structural movement. The homeowner’s foundation was beginning to separate, creating a serious long-term risk. Bear Landscaping & Design designed and installed a large-scale Redi Rock retaining wall system to permanently correct the issue and restore structural stability.

A stone retaining wall with large, rectangular blocks stacked in a grid pattern, extending into the distance. In the foreground, a sloped ground covered with dry autumn leaves. In the background, the upper portion of a house with a blue exterior and a sloped roof is visible, along with the silhouette of a tree.

The Challenge

The property was experiencing slope erosion that had already begun affecting the home’s foundation. Brick along the home had shifted several inches, and prior contractor proposals included smaller block walls or gabion baskets that would not have provided the necessary structural support.

This was not simply a cosmetic landscaping issue: it required a properly engineered solution.

A suburban backyard featuring a house with a combination of red brick and gray siding. The scene includes lush greenery, trees, and overgrown plants in the foreground. The house has a large window and is partially obscured by leaves from nearby trees. Two people are visible near the house, suggesting a residential setting.
A suburban two-story house with blue-grey siding under construction in the backyard. Several workers are present, with one on a ladder and others arranging materials near the building. A retaining wall made of textured stone blocks is visible in the foreground, with a slope covered in fallen leaves leading up to the construction area. The yard has some mature trees and neighboring houses are visible on either side.

The Solution

Bear Landscaping & Design recommended a Redi Rock wall system designed for large-scale structural applications. The project required:

  • Geotechnical reports
  • Professional surveying
  • Engineering plans
  • Permit coordination
  • Structural wall design

From contract signing to construction start, the pre-construction process took approximately five months to ensure every detail was properly engineered and approved.

The wall installation itself took approximately three weeks and incorporated roughly 600 tons of stone and aggregate materials. The result is a permanent stabilization solution designed to protect the home and surrounding property long-term.

The Result

The completed Redi Rock retaining wall not only stabilized the slope but restored safety and confidence for the homeowner. The structure was designed to perform for decades while blending naturally into the property’s landscape.

This project highlights our team’s ability to manage complex structural landscaping challenges with organization, permitting expertise, and long-term planning.
